Find all things kitchen here, from cabinet color, to counters, to hardware!
One of the biggest things I wanted in our new house was a white kitchen; it’s the room with the most upgrades. We wanted to make it more functional and more aesthetically pleasing than what was offered as standard options. Here you’ll find all the details on our kitchen finishes!
Cabinets
- Perimeter Color: Stone White
- Island Stain: Field Gray
- Island Size: 89″ x 38.5″
- Hardware: cabinet knobs, drawer pulls
We opted for double-stacked cabinets so we wouldn’t have to worry about cleaning the tops (the extra storage is a plus too), and added crown molding to complete the look. We also added a trash pull-out in the island which is so convenient, and extended the sides of the island to stretch the full width of the countertop.
Unfortunately, the cabinet paint color and island stain are specific to our cabinet maker. The paint they use is supplied by Sherwin Williams Commercial and is unavailable at retail stores. Our white is not bright white and has some warm undertones (we didn’t want it to feel too cold), and the island stain is a super dark brown that looks almost black in some lighting.
The door and drawer faces were left blank so we had to add our own hardware. We went with knobs rather than pulls on the cabinets since they are double-stacked. When shopping around for hardware, I knew I wanted black, simple, and clean; I love the shape of these mushroom knobs and the clean lines of the straight pulls.
Countertops & Backsplash
- Countertops: Calacatta Vicenza Quartz by MSI Surfaces
- Backsplash Tile: 3″x6″ white glossy subway tile
- Backsplash Grout: Warm Gray (#93)
We upgraded our countertops to quartz (granite was standard). I wanted white counters with minimal veining, and this color is perfect. The veining is subtle but adds a bit of interest over just plain white.
For the backsplash, we chose the standard option of white subway tile. Although it would have been nice to have a tile with a bit of texture or slight color variation, the subway tile worked well with our kitchen style and didn’t cost extra (win, win!). We chose a warm gray grout so that the tiles would stand out a little, and took the tile all the way to the ceiling behind the range hood.
Sink & Faucet
- Sink: Blanco Grandis Undermount Single Basin Silgranit
- Sink Color: Anthracite
- Faucet: Touch Faucet by Delta
We went with a black sink and black touch faucet to match our cabinet hardware. The touch faucet is perfect for when your hands are messy – super easy to use the back of your hand or forearm to turn on and off. The builders were just going to add the garbage disposal switch in the cabinet underneath the sink, but we chose a black air switch next to the faucet for convenience instead.
And that’s a wrap on our white kitchen finishes! This is my favorite room in the house, and all the upgrades and changes we made were 100% worth the added costs.
