Primary Bathroom
Our primary bathroom design features dual vanities, a walk-in shower, soaking tub, water closet, and linen closet. We upgraded our tile, countertops, and plumbing, but left the cabinets as the standard option.
Tip: Most builders just glue basic frameless mirrors to the wall. We asked ours not to hang any mirrors in either bathroom so we wouldn’t have to deal with the difficulty of removing the glued-on mirrors. If you are planning on adding you own, you can ask them to leave the wall blank.
Cabinets
- Cabinet stain: Field Gray
- Hardware: door knobs, drawer pulls
Our bathroom vanities were custom made by the same company that made our kitchen cabinets. They are stained a super dark brown called Field Gray – they look almost black in some lighting. I would have loved to do white but it was an upgrade for painted cabinets so we opted for a standard stain. I do like how they anchor the space against the light counters and tile. Our faucets, towel bars, and door handles are brushed nickel so we went with the same finish for our cabinet hardware.
Tile & Countertops
- Countertops: Lazio Quartz by Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces
- Tile: Reside by Arizona Tile
- Tile Size: 12″ x 24″
- Tile Color: Beige
- Tile Finish: Matte
- Grout Color: Warm Gray (#93)
We decided to do quartz counters but instead of veining like in our kitchen, we chose one with very tiny gray dots. From afar they look just plain white but I like the detail you see when you get up close.
I love the look of big tiles with minimal grout lines so we decided on 12″ x 24″ tiles in a light beige/gray with a light gray grout, and we preferred the matte finish over glossy. The floor, tub surround, and shower walls are all the same so that the transition between the areas was seamless, and we extended the wall tile in the shower to the ceiling. Our shower pan is the same color and finish, but 2″ x 2″ squares.
Guest/Second Bathroom
Our guest/second bathroom is a full bath and has very similar finishes to our primary bathroom.
Cabinets
- Cabinet stain: Field Gray
- Hardware: door knobs, drawer pulls
This bathroom features the same cabinet stain and hardware as the primary bathroom. The vanity style is a bit different with there being two drawers at the top and a full cabinet below.
Tile & Countertops
- Countertops: Lazio Quartz by Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces
- Floor Tile
- Tile: Cove Creek by Daltile
- Tile Size: 13″ x 13″
- Tile Color: Gray
- Grout Color: Warm Gray (#93)
- Bathtub Tile
- Tile: White Subway Tile
- Tile Size: 3″ x 6 “
- Grout Color: Avalanche (#38)
We chose the same white speckled quartz countertops for this bathroom too. The floor tile is a similar color to the primary bath’s tile but because the space is much smaller, we chose square 13″ x 13″ tiles instead of large rectangular ones. The standard tile for the bathtub was white square tiles, but we upgraded to classic white subway tiles and extended it all the way to the ceiling.
