My most asked questions are about our paint and flooring – find all the wall and floor finishes in our neutral home here!
Here you’ll find all the info about our paint colors, and flooring in our common areas and bedrooms. You can read about our bathroom floors in my Bathroom Sources post!
Paint
Colors
- Walls: Sherwin Williams Repose Gray (SW 7015), eggshell finish
- Trim: Sherwin Williams Extra White (SW 7006), gloss finish
This will be a quick and easy section! Every single room in our house is Sherwin Williams Repose Gray (SW 7015), even the ceilings. It cost extra to do white ceilings and Repose Gray is light enough that we decided it would be fine on the ceilings. I did consider doing white everywhere, but I wanted to add a tiny bit of color and coziness so went with a nice, neutral, light gray. It is also one of Sherwin Williams’ most popular colors so I was able to find lots of photos online of what it would look like 🙂
The trim is painted Extra White. This was the default option from the builder and we didn’t change it.
Flooring – Common Areas
Hardwood
- Type: Engineered Hardwood
- Color: Oak Iron Springs
- Maker: Kentwood Flooring
- Width: 5″ wide planks
Our entryway, great room, dining room, and kitchen all flow from one room to another so we wanted to keep the flooring the same throughout. Hardwood was standard in the entryway and kitchen, but carpet was standard elsewhere.
The standard hardwood was 3″ wide planks but we upgraded to 5″ wide for a more modern look. When we initially went to our design appointment, I was leaning toward a lighter, warmer tone wood. But as soon as we saw Oak Iron Springs on display, we fell in love. It is a fairly dark brown wood with a lot of gray undertones which works well with our gray walls.
Flooring – Bedrooms
Carpet
- Maker: Anderson Tuftex
- Name: New Print ZZB77
- Color: Cumulus 00551
- Pad: Shaw Courage
I would have loved hardwood throughout the house and have no carpet, but it just wasn’t in our budget. However, we did upgrade the carpet itself as well as the carpet pad.
I prefer the look of cream-colored carpet but had nightmares about cleaning it, so we chose a light gray that looks similar to our walls. Still neutral but a little more forgiving than white/cream carpet. We upgraded the carpet pad to a thicker, almost memory-foam like pad, and I’m so glad we did. You can definitely tell a difference, and a better quality carpet pad can make your carpet last longer so I hope that’s true!
